MasterCast 864

Water inducer and finishing aid for manufactured concrete products

Achieving a better finish and improved strength while avoiding the problems caused by excess water is a key goal for manufactured concrete products (MCP) producers in optimising the mix. MasterCast 864 is a water-inducing admixture and finishing aid that gives producers more flexibility in the amount of mixing water they can use while improving aesthetics and strength development.

Why use MasterCast 864 in MCP?

This aqueous polymer dispersion allows the addition of extra mixing water without the final product showing signs of slumping or sagging. This can improve the cement’s hydration efficiency and/or provide an improved surface finish on the end product.

In addition, when a concrete batch is produced with aggregates with a high moisture content, it can be difficult to control the total water content of the concrete batch by traditional methods, such as decreasing any added mixing water, because of the water already present in the aggregates. Here, MasterCast 864 manages this excess water so production can continue without the usual detrimental effects.

A primary benefit of using MasterCast 864 is the improved hydration efficiency of cement so that a final product can achieve higher strength development. The additional water would usually cause slumping and sagging in the final product, but using MasterCast 864 avoids this unwanted deformation.

Where to use MasterCast 864?

This water inducer and finishing aid is suitable for all kinds of MCP products, particularly blocks, hollowcore slabs, concrete block paving and pipes.

What makes MasterCast 864 different?

MasterCast 864 results in a higher quality surface finish and increased tolerance to excessive aggregate moisture content and variation. It provides improved homogeneity of materials throughout the final product.
